Since we opened in March of 2011 we have overcome many obstacles that have come our way. We have provided hundreds of nights of shelter, to the women and their children, of our community. Please click here to view details on the numbers of guests served at the shelter.
Adoration Abode is going to be a lot more public in our fund raising. We will have a float that we will enter in The Parade of Lights this November and will begin a new campaign of Buy A House For The Homeless at participating retailers around town. Without the support of our community the shelter will not be able to succeed in providing proper services for the women of our community.
One thing that we have heard over and over from the guests of the shelter is "Thank you for being here. If you were not here I don't know where I/we would have ended up". Usually by the time the guests make the call to us they have used all other options for housing. Friends and family are unable to assist them for one reason or another, usually because their landlords won't let them stay. Imagine not having your own bed to sleep in every night. Imagine not having your own refrigerator to open when you are hungry. Image not having your own bathroom to keep your personal supplies in. Imagine having to look your children in the eyes and tell them you don't know where you are going to spend the next night or where their next meal will come from. These are just a few things that the guests of the shelter have to deal with. This is why they are so thankful to have a local shelter to help them through a tough time. It provides a sense of stability and a sense of security that they have a place to come to everyday and know a meal will be available for them to eat. That they will have a warm bed to sleep in and a group of volunteers to listen to them and provide direction for a successful future.
Please consider helping us help others by either donating supplies or funds to make sure our guests have the basic needs to survive. You can visit our wish list for a current list of needed items and our donation page for a list of options for financial donations.
